Oregonians in the Community

A big part of Oregonians Credit Union is helping out wherever we can! In addition to financial support that Oregonians Credit Union provides for selected community events, our staff volunteer hundreds of hours of their personal time to a number of worthwhile organizations/programs.

Programs we're involved in:

Transition Dinners
Oregonians Credit Union employees and volunteers participate quarterly in a meal provider program at the Clark Center for a local Portland shelter run by Transition Projects.  We are happy to provide our services to those making the transition from homelessness to housing.
Smart Program
The SMART program is currently Oregon’s leading nonprofit early literacy organization, providing thousands of K-3 children with one-on-one support they need to learn how to read.  This year several representatives from our credit union were given the opportunity to volunteer their time to local schools and participate in the education of our community’s youth, through SMART.
Banking on Our Future
Banking on our Future (BOOF) is Operation HOPE's financial literacy program for grades 4 through 12. BOOF, aims to teach students the basics of banking, budgeting, checking, savings, credit and investments in four weekly 1-hour sessions.
Oregon Food Bank

Oregon Food Bank Holiday Food Drive
Oregonians Credit Union has teamed up with the Oregon Food Bank to help combat hunger this holiday season. All of our branches have a barrel to collect non-perishable food that will go to help fight hunger in Oregon!

Cans Film Festival
Oregonians Credit Union’s staff volunteered to team up with the Oregon Food Bank, the Division Street Regal Cinema and movie-goers to help fight hunger.

Oregon Can Carrier Food Drive
We were happy to contribute to this year’s drive which surpassed its statewide goal of 1.5 million pounds of food and increased more than 14 percent over last year’s totals.  Our staff, working the East Portland Post Office, loaded, sorted and distributed over 22,000 lbs of food.

Credit Unions For Kids
The Credit Unions for Kids program is a nonprofit collaboration of credit unions, chapters, leagues/associations, and business partners from around the country, engaged in fundraising activities to benefit 170 Children's Miracle Network affiliated children's hospitals serving 17 million kids. Here in the Pacific Northwest, Credit Unions for Kids benefits Doernbecher Children's Hospital.
Earth Share Cell Phone Recycling Program
Every phone is reused, refurbished or carefully recycled. All reused phones generate funds for Earth Share of Oregon. OFCU members have raised $350.00 for Earth Share through recycling their old cell phones. Way to go members! Keep recycling your cell phones by dropping them off at any OFCU branch.
Prineville Family Fest
Family Fest is a fun day in the park, put on by the Crook County Community Coalition with lots of fun activities geared towards youth. This year’s activities were geared toward youth of all ages, from toddler to teen, and can be enjoyed regardless of economic level.  OFCU sponsored the event and staff helped out at the event.
Susan Komen Race For The Cure
Our Oregonians Credit Union Race for the Cure team of 36 raised nearly $2000 for the Cure this September. OFCU wants to give a special thanks to all members, staff, and people of the community who raced for the cure this year and helped fund raise for the Cure! This year was the largest ever Komen Race for the Cure in Portland, with an outstanding 47,500+ participants racing to help Portland reach it’s fundraising goal of $3 million!
