Oregonians Credit Union is pleased to announce a college scholarship opportunity that may make it easier for you to meet your tuition costs.
The Oregonians CU College Scholarship program is now underway! All OFCU members who are entering or attending college may apply for one of five (5) $750 scholarships. Two (2) scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors and the remaining three (3) scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors -or- undergraduate students. To apply you must complete an application and submit an essay; see criteria below.
Eligibility Requirements
You must be a member of Oregonians CU and either planning to enroll or already enrolled as a full-time student at an eligible institution to be considered eligible. Eligible institutions include any public or private, generally accredited two-year or four-year institutions of post secondary education, including eligible vocational schools. Scholarship applications must be submitted by April 30th, 2010 to qualify. Scholarships will be awarded in May 2010. Awards are payable to award winner(s), for the period of one (1) academic year. Upon submitting the application, applicants give OFCU full consent to use their name, photo, or essay in various publications or media in the event that they are awarded a scholarship. OFCU staff, volunteers and immediate family members are not eligible to apply.
Essay Guidelines
In 750 words or less write an essay about one of the options below
Option 1:
What have you learned about saving and finances in high school that you can apply to your future as a college student?
Option 2:
Explain a time you found yourself in a financial crunch and discuss how you were able to overcome the situation.
**Essays must be typed on a separate piece of paper. Judges will evaluate your essay on content, spelling, grammar, and originality.
